n/a is delighted to present our inaugural show, your motion says you're in the mood, featuring the work of oakland sculptor, christopher füllemann, and taking inspiration from the life and work of arthur russell and its wild combinations of experimental and popular forms, joy and sadness, hesitation, cruelty, loss, hope, and love; a shimmery dancey dark utopianism.
celebrating the gallery as an intimate space of public activity, füllemann's installation will frame and connect the approaches of experimental poets kevin killian and paul ebenkamp, vogue dancer jocquese whitfield, opera singer breanna elyce sinclaire, neo-classical pop musician karl cronin, cellist teddy rankin-parker, and drummer daniel pearce, who will host events throughout the exhibition.

christopher füllemann (b. 1983 lausanne, switzerland, lives in oakland) creates poetic assemblages that converse with spectators and cultivate dynamic relationships without formal or social limits. fascinated with the freedom of the sculptural gesture, he generates energy and emotion through sensual transformations that connect and celebrate the fragility and ephemerality of life. he received the 2013 gustave buchet award, showing at the cantonal museum of fine arts in lausanne, graduated from sfai in 2012 with the outstanding award in sculpture, and in 2011 was awarded swiss art award at art basel >
