n/a is an exhibition, event, and residency space with a focus on queer sensibilities in contemporary art practice, centered in oakland, california.
gathering individuals of diverse social and political backgrounds, n/a's programming aims to encourage critical dialog, lend visibility to queer artists and ideas, and produce new imaginaries. it is directed and curated by nicholas andre sung > with a shifting community of organizers that has included k.r.m. mooney, christopher füllemann, and irwin swirnoff among others.
the gallery has participated in the parking lot art fair, the bay area now 7 triennial at the yerba buena center for the arts, the AIRspace residency, and the southern exposure alternative exposure grant program.
