why does the human body leave words on the page?
not a workshop nor a class nor a reading series, a poem talk is a presentation on a poem by its author. speakers will offer a somatic as well as theoretical discussion of their poem’s composition, culminating in a transfer of writerly embodiment: the listeners will, at the end of the talk, attempt to write the same poem, but from themselves (and therefore differently). each session will feature two poets, two poems, two talks, two chances to become someone else. curated by sophia dahlin.
sophia dahlin (b. 1986, lives in oakland) teaches poetry and translation to children through poetry inside out. her work can be found in fence, octopus, more places, and at her website >
